Cyprus will lift Covid-19 conditions for travel to the holiday island from April 18, while a number of other rules imposed by the pandemic two years ago end on Monday.
Specifically, authorities are scrapping a colour-coded assessment of other countries based on epidemiological risk, an inbound flight permission to travel and PCR or rapid lateral flow tests for those who were fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
However, people who have not been vaccinated, or not completed their booster shots would still need a PCR test or a lateral flow test.
At the same time, people will be able to enter their workplaces, retail stores – including shopping malls and service areas – without having to present a SafePass as of Monday. And wearing a mask when outdoors becomes optional.
Moreover, as of Friday April 15, the daily announcement of positive coronavirus cases and number of patients hospitalised with the infection will end.
As for the release of those who tested positive to the infection, this will be done automatically without even being obligated to carry out a rapid test-provided they have no symptoms.
And quarantine time gets shorter-from seven to five days-after the presentation of a PCR test at the cost of the interested party. Special regulations apply to those working in closed structures, nursing homes and hospitals.
Cyprus, a popular tourist destination, has reported 950 deaths since the first outbreak of Covid-19 recorded in March 2020.
