“ROBUST” A dance and physical theatre performance
Technopolis 20 Cultural Center
Time: 8:30 p.m.
The CHACMA Performance, a Denmark based independent theatre dance group invites you to a unique fusion of dance and physical theatre at Technopolis 20 garden in Paphos, on Friday, 2nd of June 2017, at 8:30pm.
In a unique fusion between acting, physical theatrical performance, sound and dance, CHACMA unfolds a strong visual impression with four performers on stage. Based on their own lives, they examine how the enormous pressure from society, has an impact on our psychological standards and ideals. CHACMA’s main vision is to make people observe themselves and our reality with new investigative eyes. CHACMA has created a performance about stress, mammalian instincts and the struggle to be a “fucking superwoman”…
The “ROBUST” performance is an investigation into societal diseases of the modern western world, including anxiety, stress and depression. It explores and asks if the individual is to blame for being sick. We ask ourselves if society is the decease and citizens the symptom. Are people to blame for the global deterioration of humanitarian ideals, or are they healthy individuals in a world of demise? A sturdy persona is obliged to function well in society and for simply to survive, is required a rigid mindset. This performance looks into what kind of person you need to be in order to become strong enough to survive in a world with darkness at the verge of the horizon.
The artists involved:
All the members work professionally as actors and dancers in Aarhus and Copenhagen:
Trine Kinch (actor and director), Ludmilla Faber (actor and dancer), Laura Feline Ebbesen (actor and dancer) and Maria Ulbrandt Laumark (actor and dancer).
Entrance: 10 euro
Reservations necessary at 70002420.

Screening of the documentary film “When Elephants Fight”
Technopolis 20 Cultural Center
Time: 8:30 p.m.
The educational organization CARDET (Centre for the Advancement of Research & Development in Educational Technology) and Stand with Congo international campaign invites you to the screening of the movie “When Elephants Fight”, at Technopolis 20 garden, on Wednesday, 7th of June 2017, at 8:30pm, with free entrance. The movie will be screened with Greek subtitles.
«When Elephants Fight» is an award-winning documentary film that spotlights how the complicity of multinational corporations and corrupt politicians threatens human rights globally and perpetuates the deadliest conflict since World War II in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Narrated and Executive Produced by Actor and Activist Robin Wright (House of Cards, Forrest Gump, The Princess and the Bride), this film guides the viewer through a history of exploitation of central Africa’s resources and the struggle for peace and dignity. The film explores what Joseph Conrad called the Heart of Darkness, illustrating the brutality of foreign and domestic agents in their quests for power and wealth amidst regional instability sparked by colonialism and entrenched since the Rwandan Genocide.
When Elephants Fight shares an unprecedented glimpse into the central African minerals trade worth trillions in USD. Viewers witness the illicit trafficking of minerals that feeds the global thirst for mobile devices and military technology. The film illustrates the billion-dollar mining concession deals bankrupting the Congolese state and undercutting the people of desperately-needed revenue for reforms in security, education, and health. Recent revelations from the Panama Papers demonstrate that shady business benefitting corporate and political elite is not limited to Congo.
Congo has lost 5.4 million people as a result of conflict since the late 1990s. Civilians continue to bear the brunt of unspeakable atrocities including mass killings and brutal sexual violence. When Elephants Fight highlights Congolese perseverance by peace leaders in the face of inhumanity and the increasing frustration of the everyday individuals with the status quo while struggling to provide for their families.
The documentary holds accountable all the world in our often unwitting role in the exploitation of those involved in sourcing and manufacturing our beloved consumer electronics. Further, it inspires action in the global human rights movement for transparency in the trade of raw materials.
When Elephants Fight is an Under the Hood production in association with Wishing Step Pictures. Crew: Writer and Director Mike Ramsdell (Anatomy of Hate), Producers JD Stier (Merci Congo) and Kim Carter, and Composer Steve Jablonsky (Transformers series).
